Farmstay Eco-Tourism Holidays
A farmstay
with a local
family
on their farm or smallholding is to experience the 'real' Ecuador.
The village community of San Luis de Pambil is well off the
usual tourist track and farmstays are the
ideal opportunity to share in everyday Ecuadorian life in this warm,
tropical part of the country. A bargain holiday homestay
here is suitable for everyone from solo travellers to
families - adults and
children alike enjoy life in a tropical village.
Farming is the livelihood for almost
all the
families in this area, with the main
crops being oranges, plantains, cacao (chocolate), coffee and maize -
which you can help to harvest.
As you go higher into the hills, you find more dairy cattle
farms, and
many
families keep a pig, a few chickens, goats and guineapigs on their smallholding.
Using
the farmstay as your holiday
base,
you can explore the area, walk, trek, hire a horse, visit local
markets, plant trees, investigate ancient petroglyphs or visit the
primary
rainforest in the hills above the village. Your budget
adventure travel vacations can be as active or as relaxed as you like.
Farmstays are the ideal base for vacation treats like a river
rafting adventure or for excursions to other CRACYP projects
such
as community
banks and CADO,
a consortium of
sugarcane farmers who produce alcohol - watch the process and taste the
result. You could also visit the Piedra
Blanca Community EcoTourism project.
Prices
are reasonable and we will tailormake an ecomical holiday package to
suit your interests. Budget farmstays are far more rewarding
than cheap hotels and leave you more to spend on eco-tourism
adventures and excursions - a smart bargain! See the Eco-Friendly
Farmstays website for more information.
